Your man isn't withholding from you because he doesn't care
He's withholding because every time he tries to share something, you react like he just told you the house is on fire.

I see this with clients all the time. She asks him to open up. He does. He tells her he's stressed about work or uncertain about a decision or feeling disconnected. And within seconds, she's in problem-solving mode or taking it personally or matching his stress with her own anxiety.
The thing she says she wants most, she can't actually hold when it shows up.
Because her nervous system is activated. She feels his stress as a threat. To the relationship, to their stability, to her. So she reacts. And he learns that opening up doesn't bring them closer. It brings chaos.
Here's what most women don't realize. When you meet his vulnerability with your own activation, you're teaching him to shut down. You've made it unsafe.
The skill isn't getting him to open up. The skill is learning to regulate yourself when he does.
To breathe. To listen without fixing or freaking out.
That's where intimacy lives.
In your ability to stay calm enough to let him be human without making it about you.
If you want him to trust you with what's real, you have to show him you can handle it without falling apart.
