I was talking to a client this week about her plan to go dancing

She’s been to this event before. She likes the music, she likes the movement, she always feels good in her body afterward.

I was talking to a client this week about her plan to go dancing: Jan-Willem van der Heiden, relationship coach

But the pattern is the same every time. She goes in, dances mostly by herself, doesn’t really engage with anyone, then goes home feeling energised… but also a little disappointed. A little empty. Just because there were no interesting and nothing happened.

So I asked her something simple.

If you knew, with absolute certainty, that the man of your dreams was going to be there, that you’ll be with for the rest of your life, but you didn’t know who he was… how would you be instead?

She didn’t hesitate.

She said she would dance differently. She’d be excited. She’d smile. She’d dance in different spots instead of staying in her corner. She’d talk to men. She’d actually make eye contact. She’d be open instead of cautious. She’d stay longer. She’d let herself flirt. She’d give off the kind of energy that invites.

What do you think happened at dance this time?
