The most attractive and handsome man in the room rarely has the most to offer
They've learned that attention comes without effort.

That women will pursue them, forgive them, compete for them. That they can exit any relationship and walk into another one before the week is out. So why would they change? Why would they take accountability for anything when the consequence of not doing so is... another woman who wants them just as badly?
There's a version of evolution doing something backwards here. The man who has to work for connection, who has to face himself, who has to grow or lose the thing he loves, that man builds something. He becomes something.
The man who never has to earn it stays exactly who he was at 16. But he looks good doing it, so the cycle continues.
I've worked with women who spent years orbiting men like this. Smart women. Self-aware women. And they always call for the most handsome guy, who is completely emotionally unavailable 99% of the time.
They knew something was off. They felt it. But the pull was biological and it was strong and knowing something intellectually doesn't always override what your body is telling you.
The man worth building a life with is the man who knows what it costs him to not grow. Who has sat with the gap between who he is and who he wants to be and felt that gap as something to change. That discomfort is where character is made.
You don't have to settle for a man who you are not attracted to. That's not what this is.
Choose the man who does not directly stand out to every woman in the room.
Who has chosen you clearly and keeps choosing you. Who you don't have to decode. That man has had to grow to get where he is.
And he'll keep growing, because now he has something worth protecting.
