Do you watch dating shows?

The once where they film strangers on a first date.

Do you watch dating shows?: What dating shows teach about relationships. Jan-Willem van der Heiden, relationship coach, in Bali

It’s fascinating to me, especially because of recent season.

The episodes were about same gender dating. 2 women date, or 2 men date, and it looks completely different from when a man and a woman date.

When women date each other, it's almost non-stop affirmation, appreciation and questions. "Omg, you are so cute. You are so beautiful. Omg you too. How did you do your hair that way? That looks so good. I'm having a great time, are you? Yes, so much."

On repeat.

Each woman is checking in with the other the whole way through. She says what she likes, then asks how it's received feelings wise.

When men date each other, nobody asks a question. They share information non-stop. Add in corny jokes from time to time. There's a make out session at the end.

Not saying any version is wrong, it’s just that one works for the people in it.

Put a man and a woman on the same date, and each is running a TOTALLY different script. She's waiting for the affirmation and the questions. He's waiting to share his information and tell his jokes.

No wonder women and men get so tired of dating.
