When a woman gets pregnant, everything in her life shifts
It’s immediate. Her energy drops. Her body takes over. Working becomes almost impossible, and once the baby arrives, that doesn’t suddenly improve.

If anything, she has even less capacity. She’s recovering, barely sleeping, feeding the baby all night, and her whole system is focused on keeping this little human alive.
And in that, she becomes completely dependent on the man she chose. In the most practical, biological way.
She needs stability.
She needs support.
She needs a partner who won’t crumble under the weight of actual responsibility. Any mother knows it is.
So the real questions become unavoidable.
How well does she actually know this man?
What’s he like when he hasn’t slept for four nights?
How does he deal with responsibility when it’s not optional?
What happens when he makes a mistake; does he blame, attack, deny, or does he step up and fix it?
What does he do when the baby is crying and his patience is gone?
What if he hates his job and wants to quit, but quitting would put the whole family at risk?
Because these aren’t hypotheticals. This is the reality of parenting.
The roof over your head, the food on the table, the bills, the safety, all rely heavily on the man’s emotional maturity and stability.
A child doesn’t care about his potential. A newborn doesn’t care about his dreams or his “purpose.” A family needs someone who can hold steady when life becomes chaotic.
I honestly can’t imagine what that feels like as a woman.
To have your entire world depend on how well the man you chose can show up when everything is hard. To trust that he won’t tap out, shut down, or implode under pressure. It’s a lot. Way more than most men realise.
This is why women are selective.
This is why they hesitate.
This is why they pay attention to the small things.
They’re choosing the man they may one day rely on during the most vulnerable period of their life.
Women aren’t picky because they are smart.
And they have every right to be.
