
You can absorb more than almost anyone. You can keep going when things are hard, stay composed when your nervous system is screaming, hold the family together when everything feels like it's unravelling. You adapt. You endure. You find a way.
Most men couldn't last a week inside the internal experience of an average woman on an average day.
That same strength lets you stay in situations longer than you should. It lets you tolerate low-grade unhappiness with enough efficiency that you almost don't notice it's become your baseline. You stop asking for what you need because you've gotten so good at not needing it.
At least on the surface.
What I see in a lot of couples is a woman who has regulated herself into silence, and a man who has mistaken that silence for satisfaction. She thinks he doesn't care enough to notice. He thinks everything is fine.
Both of them are wrong and neither of them is lying.
Resilience kept you in the game when it mattered. That is real. But if you're using it to manage your way through a relationship instead of actually being in one, it's worth asking what it's costing you.
