A 30 day challenge for couples to reconnect
Why a 30 day challenge for couples to reconnect works better than a weekend away, what happens week by week, and how to do it yourselves.

A 30 day challenge for couples to reconnect sounds like something from a magazine. I built one anyway, because of what I kept seeing in the couples I work with.
They would read the right things. They would agree with every page. They would try something new for 3 days. It would work a little. Then the kids got sick, work got loud, and it was forgotten. Not because they did not care. Because nobody told them what to do on day 4.
Why 30 days
Insight fades in days. Habits last for years. The habits you have now were built one ordinary evening at a time, without either of you choosing them.
What changes a relationship is a structure that makes you do a small thing every day, whether or not you feel like it. Long enough for it to stop being an effort. Long enough for the feeling to come back.
That takes about 30 days.
What happens week by week
Here is what couples usually tell me.
Week 1: something shifts. Small warmths start arriving in the house, from directions you do not expect. You notice yourself being noticed.
Week 2: they look at you differently. More eye contact in the kitchen. A laugh that would have gone missing a month ago.
Week 3: the house feels warm again. This is where couples tell me it turned. The carefulness leaves the room.
Week 4: the fall. One ordinary evening you watch them across the room and feel it.
How to do a 30 day challenge for couples to reconnect yourselves
If you want to try it on your own, here is a simple version. 1 practice per week, done daily.
- Week 1: the morning sentence. Before either of you picks up a phone, 1 sentence each. Love or care for her. Appreciation or respect for him. Name the exact thing.
- Week 2: replace the evening habit. Phones in the kitchen at 8. 1 song. Then whatever happens. Add a daily 10 minute check-in: the best part of your day, and the hardest.
- Week 3: be specific. Each write 5 small things the other could do in a normal week that would feel like care. Swap lists. Do 2 every day.
- Week 4: intimacy. 2 scheduled evenings this week, no expectation about where it goes. 15 minutes of touch. On day 30, plan an evening together that you both look forward to.
The rules
- Do it every day, even on bad days. A small version counts.
- Do not discuss whether it is working until the end of each week.
- If you miss a day, start again the next day, not from day 1.
- Both of you do your own part, whether or not the other is doing theirs.
Why it works when other things have not
Most advice gives you understanding. Understanding feels good and changes very little. A 30 day structure gives you action, which changes how evenings feel. And how evenings feel is, for most couples, what the relationship feels like.
In my ebook I write about Kate and Johan, who described themselves as flatmates who share a couch. They changed 1 habit, phones in a bowl at 8pm. By the end of the second week they were talking until 10. "We didn't fix anything," Johan said. "We just got our evenings back."
My 30 Day Challenge
If you want it done for you, I built the 30 Day Challenge. 15 minutes a day each. You get your own daily guidance, built for your side of the relationship, and your partner gets theirs. Every day in order, so you never have to wonder what to do next. Support for the hard days. A day 30 evening to build towards. And a free call with me when you finish.
It has a money back guarantee. The details are on the challenge page.
Who it is for
Couples who still love each other and feel far apart. Couples who feel like roommates. Couples who have tried talking about it and want something to do instead.
It is not for couples in crisis, with violence or active addiction. That needs more support first.
What couples tell me at the end
The most common thing I hear is not that everything is fixed. It is that the house feels different. Warmer. Less careful. That they laughed more this month than in the last year. That they are reaching for each other again.
Many also say they were surprised by how small the things were. 1 sentence in the morning. A bowl for the phones. A list of 5 things. None of it is complicated. It is just done every day, on purpose, for long enough to stick.

Questions about the challenge
How much time does a 30 day couples challenge take?
Mine takes about 15 minutes a day each.
What if my partner will not do it?
Do your side anyway. Many partners join in once they notice the change.
Does a 30 day challenge work for couples who have been together a long time?
Yes. Long-term couples often have the most habits to replace, and the most trust to build on.
What if we miss days?
Pick it up the next day. Missing a day is normal. Stopping is what breaks it.
Can we do it again after 30 days?
Yes. Many couples keep the habits that worked best, and come back to the full 30 days when life gets busy again.
