It is just true.
He will leave the cupboard open. He will give you a two-word answer when you needed five. He will be somewhere else in his head when you wanted him present. He will mispronounce a word you've corrected him on three times.
None of that goes away. You don't get a man without the parts that drive you a little mad.
What you choose between is not annoying and not annoying. That's not a real option. What you're actually choosing between is a man who irritates you and shows up for you and the kids, and a man who irritates you and doesn't.
A man who gets under your skin sometimes and still protects the family. Who still gets up at 3am. Who still makes the decision nobody else wants to make. Who still reaches for your hand even when things between you are cold.
I think about the fathers I know who are getting it mostly right.
Their wives are still frustrated with them sometimes.
That's fine. That's marriage. But those women are also safe. Loved. Not alone in it.
The question isn't whether he annoys you. He will. The question is what kind of man is doing while he is being annoying.
