Most men hear a problem and immediately start solving it
That's how we're built. We see someone we love in pain and every part of us wants to make it stop.

Most of us have also learned, usually the hard way, that women don't want that. Not always. Not right away. So we override the instinct. We sit there, we listen, we don't offer the fix. And honestly? That's painful. Watching the person you love suffer when you could do something about it goes against everything in you.
But I think we've been framing this wrong.
It's not listen OR fix. It's both. Just not in that order.
When my wife comes to me with something heavy, I've stopped treating it as a choice between being emotionally present and being useful. I listen. I let her feel heard. And then, quietly, I handle something that will actually help. She mentioned being exhausted and overwhelmed last month. I didn't say "you should get a massage." I listened. Then I booked it, called the Uber, and told her when to be ready.
She felt held. She also got relief. Neither one cancelled out the other.
That's what masculine leadership looks like in a relationship.
Reading the situation, holding it properly, and then moving.
The man who only listens isn't leading. The man who only fixes isn't present. She needs both, and it's on you to know when to give which one.
