She doesn't lose attraction because you gained weight or got a promotion or forgot to do that thing you said you'd do: Jan-Willem van der Heiden, relationship coach

I've watched this play out in dozens of relationships. The man who made decisions now checks in about everything. The guy who had interests now orbits her mood. He trades his direction for her approval and wonders why she pulls away.

She doesn't want you smaller. She wants you present. But most men confuse the two.

Your wife isn't your mother. When you hand her the responsibility of managing your choices, your time, your emotional state, you're asking her to parent you. And no woman on earth wants to make love to her child.

This isn't about being an asshole. It's about being a man who still knows what he wants when she's standing next to him.

The guys who stay attractive long-term aren't the ones doing everything right. They're the ones who stay rooted when she's upset, when she tests, when she pulls back. They don't collapse into people-pleasing the second there's tension.

Attraction is something you kill by shrinking.
