7 signs you need a relationship coach
Every relationship has hard weeks. These are the signs it might be time to get help, before the distance grows.

Most couples I meet waited too long. They hoped it would pass. By the time they reached out, small hurts had turned into resentment.
Here are the signs I see most often in couples who would benefit from coaching now, not later.
1. You have the same argument on repeat
Different topic, same fight. The dishes, the phone, his mother. It always ends in the same place. That is a pattern, and patterns can change. See how to stop having the same argument.
2. You feel like flatmates
You run the house well together. You just do not feel like a couple anymore. Conversations are about logistics. More on that in we feel like roommates, not a couple.
3. Touch has become rare
Not just sex. Hugs, a hand on the back, sitting close on the couch. When touch disappears, distance grows quietly.
4. 1 of you has stopped asking
When a partner stops asking for what they need, it is rarely because they are happy. It usually means they have stopped expecting it.
5. Small things cause big reactions
A forgotten text turns into a night of silence. When reactions are bigger than the situation, old hurt is usually involved.
6. You keep score
Who did more. Who gave up more. Who is more tired. Keeping score is a sign that both of you feel unseen.
7. You are thinking about leaving, and you are not sure
If you still love each other but cannot see how to get back, that is the moment to get help. Not after the decision is made.
What a relationship coach can do
A coach helps you see the pattern and gives each of you something specific to do differently. Not in 2 years, but this week. Read more about what a relationship coach does.
When you need a therapist instead
If there is violence, active addiction, or someone does not feel safe, start with local professional help.
Where to start
- Take the free relationship quiz. It shows in 2 minutes whether you are in the flicker, the drift or the distance.
- Try The 30 Day Challenge, 15 minutes a day each.
- Or apply for a discovery call to talk with me directly.
Why couples wait too long
Most couples wait because they hope it will pass, because 1 of them is not ready, or because asking for help feels like admitting failure. I understand all 3. But relationships rarely drift back together on their own. The patterns that created the distance keep running until someone changes them.
Getting help early is not a sign that your relationship is broken. It is a sign that you take it seriously.
Signs for single people
Coaching is not only for couples. These are signs I see in single people who would benefit:
- You keep meeting the same kind of partner, with the same ending.
- You feel anxious in early dating more than excited.
- You lose interest when someone is consistent and kind.
- You know what you want, but keep settling for less.
If that sounds familiar, read why do I attract emotionally unavailable men.
Signs for men
Many men I coach recognise these:
- Your partner seems unhappy and you do not know why.
- You work hard at home and it never seems to be enough.
- Arguments end with you going quiet.
- Intimacy has slowed down and nobody talks about it.

What to do this week
Pick the sign that fits you best. Then do 1 small thing about it. If it is the repeat argument, agree on a break sentence. If it is touch, give 1 hug a day with no agenda. If it is keeping score, write down 3 things your partner did this week that you have not thanked them for. Small steps tell you quickly whether you can shift it alone, or whether you need help.
Questions people ask
Do both partners need to want coaching?
It helps, but it is not required. Many people start alone, and the relationship changes because they do.
Is it too late if we already talked about separating?
Not always. Many couples I work with had that conversation before they started.
Can a relationship coach help if we are not married?
Yes. The patterns are the same whether you are married, living together or dating.
